Once Pokémon Trade and Player versus Player Trainer Battle features were added to Pokémon GO, the game got its settled world.
Until early 2020 the players were only able to take part in battles against their friends or other local players, but the Pokémon GO Battle League launch eliminated this condition. Now you have a chance to compete with anyone, regardless of your opponent’s position. With GO Battle League release back in March 2020, this new battle mode randomly matches you with opponents from around the world, making it a new worldwide battle league with no limitation.
Little Prehistory…
In January 2020, Niantic was still checking this new PvP mode, and it wasn’t announced that it would be released in March. During that time, they allowed getting a Premium Battle Pass for those who reached high ranks in the preseason. It was a nice move to honor the players who wanted to be the first to try out this new online mode.
That idea kept players busy until the announced release, but reading the fans’ tweets of that time; we will notice they were sure the game wasn’t ready to go live. The reason for that pessimistic thought was the ongoing lag and server issues of the game. But as we know, problems with code never stopped Niantic from releasing the unfinished updates.
After all, the First Season of GO Battle League was launched on March 13th, 2020. The GO League didn’t forget to bring the legendary and mythical Pokémons into the new mode, such as Darkrai, Thundurus, and Giratina. Also, we get the latest events and awards as well as new and shiny appearance.
