Back in 2016, Id Software’s Doom felt like an outstanding refreshment of the classics packed with giant mobs and gaming intensity adding new coloring to 1990’s classic version. Present-day Doom Eternal is all about a brand-new concept with different upgrades, combat stages, and effective usage of weapons. In other words, it’s a huge monster shooting campaign after some years of introductory stage. Eternal allows you to feel the strongest Demon Slayer ever.
What special about a new game? You have a wide range of new killing tools and specific weapons. A rare occurrence in combat areas is updates and pickups here, so you have to earn them using other methods as well. Except for combat areas, Eternal offers you to kill monsters in various ways and get experience.
About the new strategy
The strategy has changed rationally. In the previous Doom version of 2016, you could just run and tear, blast, and kill. Here is the new approach. In Doom Eternal, you have to keep your figures up, which means rotating via glory, chainsaw, and flamethrower. Besides, maintaining your strengths level and reasoning is one of the most important strategies to keep you alive. Consider properly using an appropriate gun for any specific task, think quickly because many Eternal’s monsters have weaknesses so you can destroy them easier.
A new strategy involves thinking about a huge list of things, so the first time you can feel a bit overwhelmed. Therefore, take your time considering the necessary tools, strategy, and ammo to murder one or another enemy. It sounds not like the previous Doom’s run and kills a straightforward approach.
The moment you grasp the idea Doom Eternal becomes a total murdering mess. Fast reaction and aiming skills aren’t the way of getting into the rhythm. Eternal is the game about the strategy and plot, where you have to evaluate each step forward. Each second leads you to choose another monster and analyze the situation. This puzzle of staying alive is making game real fun.
Doom Eternal presents higher mobility making the game more gripping. During the fight on multi-level combat area, you have double jump and horizontal move to navigate. You can explore secret levels and places with upgrades as Doom Eternal bets on better platforming than its predecessor. With almost all the special tricks and earning upgrade fights, I spent 16 hours playing the campaign. Doom Eternal looks more serious, involving, and personal, making you feel as if you know each character.
What is Battlemode?
Multiplayer mode, which is called Battlemode, is a cherry on top of the game, offering us the traditional Doom 2016 killing approach. The idea is that one Slayer player fights two Demon players. You have to use all your skills and come up with thought-out strategies playing against smart enemies. The versus playing strategy keeps a strong combat atmosphere as the Demon team has an opportunity to work together. Using their mix of skills, especially summon ones, they fight with the Slayer with the help of smaller monsters. Playing for Demons makes the course of play less intense but presents another tactical side of the battle.
Changing of intensity is revealing, particularly playing as Demons, but it’s some more difficult to get into. Anyway, Battlemode requires you to keep in mind a lot, regardless of the side you have chosen. When playing like a demon, you can try 5 various hellions. The main idea is to shoot the Slayer using your demon skills. Being an exciting branch, Battlemode is still not the main focus of Doom Eternal.
It will take some time to get used to the Eternal’s increased mobility, intensity, combat features, and design. Still, when you puzzle out Eternal’s peculiarities, you’ll become an expert in demon-slaying.
