The top PS4 games celebrate Sony’s last-generation platform, with these titles demonstrating how outstanding the machine’s line-up truly was – especially when it comes to story-driven exclusives.
Although there are still some outstanding forthcoming PS4 titles, we haven’t included Elden Ring or Horizon Forbidden West since they are better enjoyed on the newest generation hardware if you have it.
1. Dark Souls 3
The Dark Souls series ended with Dark Souls 3, but what a way to go out. The games were hard but fair, which made them a model for many other games. Dark Souls 3 is a great summary of the whole series. It’s not as disorganized as Dark Souls 2 and not as rough around the edges as the first game. It has a lot of amazing places to visit, the same well-balanced combat that fans are used to, and a new focus on speed and versatility inspired by FromSoftware’s own Bloodborne. This is the place to start if you want to know more about the Souls games.
2. Apex Legends
Apex Legends is another game that aspires to be the battle royale champion. Apex Legends is a team-based battle royale shooter. It was developed by Respawn Entertainment and is set in the same environment as Titanfall. Teams of three battle against 57 other teams for the opportunity to uncover treasure and be the last person (or team) remaining.
Apex Legends is different from Fortnite, and PUBG in that players have to choose a class, which is a unique character.
3. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The action/stealth game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the newest installment in Ubisoft’s long-running franchise, and it’s another triumph. This time, you’ll take on the role of Eivor, a Viking warrior in medieval England looking for a new home for his people. You’ll travel across war-torn countries, killing crucial targets, fighting deadly Saxons, and even taking part in Viking rap fights known as “flying.”
4. Death Stranding
Death Stranding is one of the most unusual games in 2019. But it’s also a game for the system, especially if you like Hideo Kojima’s strange, off-kilter style of futuristic fiction. You play as Sam Bridges, who delivers supplies to people still alive after the end of the world. The name “Death Stranding” set off a race from another dimension, which made me think a lot about life, death, and what power means in a post-apocalyptic world.
5. Devil May Cry 5
After eleven years, Devil May Cry 4 finally gets a suitable successor from Capcom. The action game Devil May Cry 5 is a vibrant, stylish title that will please devoted players and newbies alike. The superhuman warriors Dante, Nero, and V are just a few of the intimidating, deadly enemies you’ll have to defeat with a brilliant mix of gunplay, swordplay, and platforming. Even if learning is challenging, the fight is the best part once you do.
