A few years back, PlayStation 5 was introduced and has since established its domination in the console industry with star launch games in Spider-Man Marvel: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls and even Astro’s Playroom.
Although these are just appetizers. 2021 is becoming the key platform with lots of thrilling new games trying to fill up the limited SSD capacity of your PS5. Whatever your gaming taste, whether it be more in line with a fine horror survival game, an RPG with a cool blend of action and history, or something that will grab your attention, 2021’s line-up of PS5 games will definitely have something new for you.
If you would like a simple guide to some of the games we choose to keep a close eye on, here are our favorite PlayStation 5 games this year.
God of War: Ragnarok
Ragnarok will arrive with the sequel to God of War that will fall early in 2021. Apart from the cliffhanger that ends in the post-credit 2018 game scene, not much is revealed about the game, not even the title. The game is actually named “God of War: Ragnarok” and the trailer says “Ragnarok is here,” but we have a preview with Kratos that warns us that “there is time to get ready.”
Final Fantasy XVI
It’s time for the next sixteenth installment of Final Fantasy in the franchise. We have only one game trailer to go, but it looks fantastic with common Final Fantasy Tropes, laid out with lots of political drama, and *gasp* a brand new M ranking! It is created by the prolific Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida of Fantasy XIV and directed by Hiroshi Takai.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Our Lombax and Robot Pair of Ratchet and Clank awaits an all-new adventure: Rift Apart. Players will fly through numerous worlds and realms with new resources to knock the evil Dr. Nefarious down. How precisely the DualSense controller plays, needs to be seen but, as load times in the PS5 are almost nonexistent, players should anticipate that this game is a cool interdimensional style.
Deathloop
Fans of the film Groundhog Day and its numerous permutations will enjoy a field day with Deathloop, a first-person shooter game in which you played, you guessed, as an assassin. Your aim is to delete the targets in an environment until your loop resets. In this game, there’s another killer, and the one she hunts is… you.
Resident Evil Village
The next entry in the Resident Evil franchise was released some years after the Resident Evil 7 events and involves Ethan and Mia. Apart from the two, it was announced that another familiar guy, Chris Redfield, would come back to give Ethan a lot of trouble.
Horizon Forbidden West
Aloy’s journey begins with Horizon Forbidden West. Our adventurous protagonist will take us to post-apocalyptic San Francisco, meeting fresh ground, new challenges and new machines. We can see Aloy swimming in the trailer with a certain breathing mask, this may mean any potential parts of the underwater in the game.
Far Cry 6
Ubisoft’s forthcoming Far Cry6 would see the actor’s comeback as Anton Castilla’s main antagonist behind everyone’s favorite Breaking Bad and the Mandalorian villain Giancarlo Esposito. Besides that, gamers will take on the role of Yaran Dani Rojas, a fighter against the nation’s tyranny.
Scarlet Nexus
Witness the strength of Scarlet Nexus psychokinesis. The forthcoming RPG of Bandai Namco follows young Yuito Sumeragi as he explores the Modern Himuka universe as the Other Suppression Force recruit, an anti-terrific mutant task force recognized as the Other. Those searching for a future-oriented science fiction animation game surely won’t want to skip it.
Hogwarts Legacy
Potterheads have long been clamoring in J.K. for an open-world game. The Harry Potter world of Rowling and WB Games have now responded to such calls as the Hogwarts Legacy. Parallel to the nineties when the original books were written, this RPG was the legend of The Boy Who Existed, primarily in the eighteenth century. Players will make their own witch or wizard, solve riddles, do magic and beat bad guys, all in a dazzling 4K.
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Located in modern Tokyo, Japan, Ghostwire: Tokyo has you participating as someone exploring an ancient city overwhelmed by supernatural attacks in Tango Gameworks’ first individual horror action. However, don’t fear, you have the power to battle evil spirits at your fingertips.
Although this is not a complete list of the PlayStation 5, these games are clearly a source of appetite for what looks like a 2021 epic video game.
