Isn’t it so infuriating to finally find someone interesting to go out with… and then never do it because there’s a global pandemic?
Unfortunately, the old rules of dating aren’t applicable anymore, and we have to get creative. Don’t worry, though, dating while social distancing still can be a lot of fun with these 8 ideas!
Go to a museum
Museums are an excellent choice for dates. Thanks to the Internet, you can now visit many different museums worldwide from the comfort of your home by watching various excursions on YouTube. Do you want to see the masterpieces from the Prado Museum in Spain? Or perhaps in Louvre in France? It sounds so romantic! There’s also Google Arts and Culture, with the help of which you can also see many well-known artworks. You can find lots of great digital exhibitions, and not only spend time with your significant other looking at beautiful things but also learning new information. Just synchronize the online tour or share your screen with your date to make the whole experience better.
Watch a concert of your favorite band
Another option that is also connected with YouTube is watching full-length concerts. There are other platforms where you can do it, too. Watching a record of a show obviously is not the same thing as seeing it live. At the same time, it’s not likely that we’ll be able to go to real concerts in the nearest future anyway. It seems so crazy now that we used to gather in such huge crowds! And hey, no one steps on your feet, too. So, call your date and enjoy your favorite music together!
Draw with your date
So, here’s a concept: you and your date create something unique while each of you stays home. You can simply use what you have at home or order some artsy supplies on the Internet. If you can’t draw anything at all and you don’t want your date to know that you’re not the best at arts and crafts, go to Crayola’s site. You’ll find free coloring pages for adults that you can print out. Chat while drawing for inspiration, and in the end, reveal the final product, or you could also exchange your works for a fun and memorable activity.
Escape a room together (virtually)
Solving different puzzles is fun, especially when you do it with someone you like. Give an escape quest a chance. In such games, you have to solve puzzles and search for hints to get out of a place. Usually, you have to do it fast, as you don’t have much time. If you want an interesting online quest, try The Escape Game. There’s also a similar-themed multi-player game about an art thief, The Heist. This game costs $17 in a bundle, or $10 if you purchase it separately.
Watch a movie
Netflix Party, which is a Chrome extension, enables you to synchronize what you watch on Netflix with other people. Of course, it has become very popular ever since the pandemic started. This can be a good idea for a date night with your bae. The extension also gives you an opportunity to send messages, but you can make the experience better by having a video call.
Have dinner together
This could be so much fun! You can cook something and have a video call at the same time or just order some food. Next, you can dress up and serve yourself a nice drink for the right atmosphere. One of you could also be teaching another your favorite recipe for a dish or a cocktail.
Play a videogame
You can find so many good options online to spend time together and create memories, and playing games together is one of the most enjoyable ones. If you want to find some great examples of such games, check out this article.
Create your own book club
Clever is new and attractive, so don’t be afraid to seem a bit nerdy. Choose a book to read (or opt for an audiobook; it really makes no difference in our case). If you need more options, this can also be a podcast or an interesting article. By the way, being interesting is key here: if you decide to discuss a 1000-pages book or a podcast about something too specific, this can turn out to be a disaster. Then, once both of you are prepared, have a virtual meeting, and discuss what you’ve learned!
